CrossWalk Communication - September 12, 2020
I am pleased to share that our in-person worship plan is moving forward. We are currently offering three in-person worship services. These options include a 5:00 pm service in Midtown and 9 am and 11 am services in Laveen.
Worship Options for September:
In Midtown we have secured a 5 pm time on Saturdays for worship at New Valley Church Downtown 1801 E. Osborn, Phoenix AZ 85016. We can accommodate up to 60 people in this worship area. Use your church center app to register for worship during September or go each week to our website at www.cwlk.church to register.
In Laveen we will continue to use Arizona Lutheran Academy 6036 S. 27th Ave, Phoenix AZ 85041 until further notice. We can accommodate at least 120 people per service in this location and will have youth and kids options being offered as well. Use your church center app to register for worship during September or go each week to our website at www.cwlk.church to register.
We are expecting that Covid 19 will not be going away in the near future. We will continue to offer online worship at 9 am and 11 am at cwlk.online.church as well as on our Youtube Channel at 9 am. We will continue to offer in-person options that we believe are safe and in line with state and local health mandates. Please continue to look at the news page of our website for the most up to date information.
5th Grade CrossWalk Kids and Youth Opening September 13th in Laveen:
Starting on September 13, 2020 we will have our first youth worship for youth in 6th - 12th grade at the 11 am service. The youth are asked to register for this first service using this link to help us get an idea of how many kids to expect. The youth will start in main worship for the music portion and then go to a classroom for a message with Phil Bishoff and the youth mentors. Please note that the youth will use masks and practice social distancing.
CWLK Kids plans to reopen in phases; the first step starting on September 13. One fifth grade classroom will be opening at the 9:00 am service only.
Our CrossWalk Kids team has prepared materials to assist families in worship for all of our services. Parents can use family activities including a video, family devotion and coloring page to enhance worship for kids. Click here to access these materials online.
What should I expect at worship services in September?
We will continue to follow local mandates: The state and local government have pages of suggested guidelines for worship institutions and the general population to follow when meeting. We will do our best to follow these guidelines. Here are just a few you can expect:
Masks required to enter the worship area.
Masks required during any singing or speaking.
Masks encouraged but not required during the message.
Physical distancing of 6ft from those outside of your family.
Available hand sanitizer.
Limited singing and congregational speaking.
Limited, but increasing attendance each week.
We ask those feeling sick to stay home.
Encouraging those in risk categories to stay safer at home.
We will exceed some safety guidelines. Our mantra for worship reopening is that we want people to be “saved and safe”. We understand that churches are exempt from certain state and city mandates. Even though this is true, we will do our best to go above and beyond what is required in order to keep our people as safe as possible.
A revamped worship arts team. Steven Millerman has resigned as our Worship Arts Director and has moved away from Phoenix. Our worship arts team will continue to lead us in worship and a revamp of our organizational structure is underway. Right now Tom Weinstein is coordinating our Laveen site and Sarah Gallendar is coordinating in Midtown.
We will depend on our volunteers to return. CrossWalk always has and always will depend on volunteers. If you plan to return for worship, please plan to serve. If you desire to serve and you don’t know where to start, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will contact you with options for service!
Humility, communication, flexibility and respect. We know that there are many ways that a reopening of a church could take place. We ask that everyone in the CrossWalk family has the humility to admit that we don’t have all the answers. We ask that if something is unclear that you communicate with us and we will do our best to communicate with you. We ask for flexibility as our plans will very likely change at some point. And finally, we ask a mutual love and respect for each other and differing points of view that your brothers and sisters in Christ have about how to move forward.
We are continuing to turn the dial on reopening in-person worship at CrossWalk Church. And whether you are someone who is ready to come back for one of the first services or someone who won’t be able to come back for a while, we ask for your prayers and partnership in sharing the good news of Jesus. We will continue to work together to share the gospel and we are thankful that you are joining the CrossWalk family in doing it.
