Return to Cesar Chavez High School - January 31, 2021
Over the past number of months we are blessed to have worshipped both online and in person. We are extremely grateful to Arizona Lutheran Academy for being such a gracious host for our Laveen Campus over the last 6 months. But now we have been approved to move our Laveen operations back to Cesar Chavez High School. We will start back at Cesar Chavez High School on January 31, 2021.
Turning the dial
Our staff continues to keep our eyes on the Covid numbers and we are planning to slowly open our worship services and other ministries in a responsible way. On January 31st at Cesar Chavez we will offer:
In person worship at 9 am and 11 am
CrossWalk Kids grades K-5 at the 9 am service only
CrossWalk Youth Ministry at the 11 am service only
Note: We plan to open CrossWalk Kids for ALL ages on March 7th at the 9 am service.
Worship Options for February and beyond:
In Midtown we will continue to meet at 5:00 pm on Saturdays for worship at New Valley Church Downtown 1801 E. Osborn, Phoenix AZ 85016. Please be aware that we are considering other possible options for the future, please continue to come back to this page or the Church Center app for the latest information on Midtown.
We will continue to offer online worship at 9 am and 11 am at cwlk.online.church as well as on our Youtube Channel at 9 am. Weekly messages can be seen on demand at https://cwlk.church/watch/listen-to-messages.We will continue to offer in-person options that we believe are safe and in line with state and local health mandates. Please continue to look at the news page of our website for the most up to date information.
We will continue to have youth worship for those in 6th - 12th grade at the 11 am service. The youth will start in main worship for the music portion and then go to a classroom for a message with Phil Bischoff and the youth mentors. Please note that the youth will use masks and practice physical distancing.
CWLK Kids plans to reopen in phases;
We are open now for grades K-5 at the 9am service in Laveen.
We plan to open for ALL ages on March 7, 2021 at the 9am service in Laveen.
We’ll be following the same safety guidelines as main service (wearing masks and maintaining social distance when possible). Additional measures will be practiced such as taking temperatures and sanitizing hands at the check in station as well as attendance caps in the classrooms. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday. Our CrossWalk Kids team has prepared materials to assist families in worship for all of our services. Parents can use family activities including a video, family devotion and coloring page to enhance worship for kids. Click here to access these materials online.
Families are welcome and encouraged to come with their children to in-person worship at both locations.
What should I expect at worship services?
We will continue to follow local mandates: The state and local government have pages of suggested guidelines for worship institutions and the general population to follow when meeting. We will do our best to follow these guidelines. Here are just a few you can expect:
Masks required to enter the worship area.
Masks required during any singing or speaking.
Masks encouraged but not required during the message.
Physical distancing of 6ft from those outside of your family.
Available hand sanitizer.
Limited singing and congregational speaking.
We ask those feeling sick to stay home.
We also encourage those in high-risk categories to stay safer at home.
We will exceed some safety guidelines. Our mantra for worship reopening is that we want people to be “saved and safe”. We understand that churches are exempt from certain state and city mandates. Even though this is true, we will do our best to go above and beyond what is required in order to keep our people as safe as possible.
We will depend on our volunteers to return. CrossWalk always has and always will depend on volunteers. If you plan to return for worship, please plan to serve. If you desire to serve and you don’t know where to start, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will contact you with options for service!
Humility, communication, flexibility and respect. We know that there are many ways that a reopening of a church could take place. We ask that everyone in the CrossWalk family has the humility to admit that we don’t have all the answers. We ask that if something is unclear that you communicate with us and we will do our best to communicate with you. We ask for flexibility as our plans will very likely change at some point. And finally, we ask for a mutual love and respect for each other. It’s inevitable that we will have differing points of view about how to move forward, but we want to keep in the front of our minds that we are brothers and sisters in Christ.
Whether you are someone who is ready to come back for the first time or someone who won’t be able to come back for a while, we ask for your prayers and partnership in sharing the good news of Jesus. We will continue to work together to share the gospel and we are thankful that you are joining the CrossWalk family in doing it.
